Ganjam: Odisha Vigilance today that is on Thursday has apprehended Rajendra Kumar Behera, the PEO of Turubudi Gram Panchayat under Patrapur Block of Ganjam district in Odisha.
The said officer has been apprehended by Vigilance while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.6,000 from a Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramina (PMAYG) beneficiary towards release of last instalment of Rs.30,000/- in connection with construction of house under PMAYG, already completed by her during the year 2020-22.
The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the exclusive possession of the accused Behera.
Following trap, simultaneous searches at residential house of accused Rajendra Kumar Behera at village Banamali, Nuagaon of Ganjam, rented house at Laxmi Vihar, 1st lane, Berhampur, PS-Bada Bazar and his office are being conducted.
In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance Case under P.C. Act 1988 has been registered. Investigation in progress against Behera.
