Pedestrian killed after being hit by bike, locals stage road blockade

Bhanjanagar: Tension ran high in Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district last night after a man was killed after being hit by a bike at Cinema Hall Chhak and angry locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation to the family member of the victim.

The deceased has been identified as Bipra Muni, of the same area.

As per the report, Bipara, who was trying to cross the road right in front of the cinema hall when the mishap took place. One Satya Das of Shergarh area, who was on his way to village lost control over the wheels of his bike and ended up hitting him, following which both of them sustained critical injuries.

While some locals rushed the duo to Kabisuryanagar Hospital for treatment following the incident, doctors declared Bipra brought dead there. The biker whose condition deteriorated further was later shifted to MKCG Medical in Berhampur.

Angry locals staged a road blockade by burning tyres at the accident spot demanding suitable compensation to the family of the deceased.

Kabisuryanagar Police reached the spot and pacified the mob to remove the blockade late in the night.
