The court extended Punjilal’s police remand after the cops produced him before it this morning. Police had sought for an eight-day remand.
The probe agency, which had taken Punjilal on April 25, produced him before the court after completion of his six-day remand.
Police is said to have received many vital information from the accused during the remand period. However, they want to extract more information from him.
The court has directed the police to produce Punjilal before it on May 7 by 12.30 PM.
Meanwhile, the police have formed three special teams to collect more evidences required during the trial in court.
One of the teams has gone to Raipur in Chhattisgarh from where the killer parcel was sent through Sky King Courier that killed newlywed groom Soumya Sekhar Sahu and his grandmother Jemamani and left bride Reema severely injured on February 23. The team will search for the auto driver who had helped Punjilal in sending the parcel after getting extra money.
State police has also declared prize money for the auto driver if he himself reveals his identity and helps the police during the probe.
Odisha Crime Branch has also decided to send various materials seized during the course of investigation to different national and international scientific agencies including Israel to retrieve all the data which Punjilal reportedly deleted after execution of the crime.
The CCTV footage of the courier company will be sent to Israel to confirm Punjilal’s presence in the video recordings.
The anonymous letter which is believed to be written by Punjilal to confuse the investigation process will be sent to Gandhinagar’s scientific laboratory. Similarly, the specimen will be sent for a DNA test as police suspect the prime accused had used his saliva to enclose it.
