Balangir: In the latest development of the Patnagarh wedding gift blast, Odisha Crime Branch has started interrogating a lecturer of Bhaisa College and four others and said to have received some vital information.

According to reports, the officials of the Crime Branch are interrogating one Punjilal Meher, the English Lecturer of Bhaisa College in Balangir district. Four others including the deceased bridegroom Soumya Sekhar Sahu’s parents are also being questioned by the probe agency.

The Crime Branch officials started interrogating Meher and Sekhar’s mother, who also works in the same college, face to face after knowing that there was a fight between both of them over getting the post of the Head of the Department.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Soumya and Reema Sahu had married on February 18. Five days later, they received a parcel as marriage gift, which when they opened, exploded. Soumya and his grandmother Jemamani were killed due to the blast while Reema had sustained grievous burn injuries throughout her body. Initially, she was admitted to Balangir hospital. But, later she was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Reema was discharged from the hospital on April 12.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Odisha Crime Branch, which is probing the case is yet to trace the parcel sender even after two months of the incident. The probe team had visited Raipur in Chhattisgarh and grilled the owner of the Sky King Courier service and got to know that the wedding gift sender was communicating both in Hindi and Odia. Besides, it had grilled the deceased bridegroom Soumya Sekhar’s relatives. However, the police are still clueless of the accused.

Reema and Sekhar’s parents had even urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and demanded the arrest of the parcel sender.
