Patkura Assembly Election On July 20: ECI

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday announced that election for the Patkura Assembly seat under Kendrapara Parliamentary Constituency will take place on July 20.

Counting of votes will be held on July 24, the ECI informed.

A notification has also been issued by the ECI, stating that the model code of conduct comes into force from today.

Noteworthy, the election for Patkura Assembly seat was earlier scheduled to take place during the fourth phase of general elections i.e on April 29.

However, the election was revoked after the death of BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwal on April 20.

The polling date was further postponed for 60 days by the ECI in view of the devastation caused by Cyclone Fani which hit Odisha coast on May 3.
