Patients administered expired saline in Balangir, CDMO begins probe

Balangir: In a shocking incident, some patients including children were administered expired saline in the district Headquarters Hospital on Wednesday.

According to reports, the patients, who were undergoing treatment in the paediatric ward of the medical, were given the saline which had crossed their expiry date. The saline which had manufacturing date December 2014 had expiry date till November 2017.

However, attendants of three patients spotted the expiry date and brought to the notice of the hospital authorities who withdrew the saline bottles immediately. But, they locked the storeroom of the hospital to avoid entry of anyone.

On being informed about the matter, Bolangir Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Sugyanendra Mishra initiated a probe into the incident.
