Dhenkanal: A patient committed suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Bijay Behera (21) alias Tuna of Mahulakhola village under Gondia police limits of the same districts.
As per the report, Behera had been shifted to the DHH yesterday afternoon after being rushed to Degaon Primary Health Centre (PHC) following an attack of sunstroke. While he was under treatment and recovering gradually, at around 8.30 am today morning went to the sixth floor washroom to freshen up and jumped down after slitting his wrists.
Dhenkanal Town Police have rushed to the spot and sent the body for autopsy.
While it is still not clear why the patient took the drastic step, police have started an investigation in this direction.
