Paradip Port Creates Record By Handling 30 Vessels In 24-Hour Span

Paradip: Paradip port created an all-time record by handling 30 ships in 24 hours beginning from 7 am on Monday till 7 am today. Port officials said that the vessels handled during the 24 hours included 10 incoming vessels, nine outgoing vessels, three shifting of vessels and eight shipping support vessels.

Port officials also said that another 39 vessels are in the queue at the anchorage to enter the harbour.  The previous record stood at 27 vessels handled by the port in a period of 24 hours on October 15, 2018.

Captain Atulya Kumar Mohapatra, Deputy Conservator of the port thanked the harbour master, marine pilots and staffs of the port for the achievement.  “The port handled 109.27 MMT of cargo in last fiscal and secured the second position among the major ports of India. We are aiming for 120 MMT cargo handling mark this financial year,” said Mohapatra.
