Panic Grips Odisha Village After Two Leopards Spotted

Nuapada: Panic gripped Amanara village near Musarangi forest under Sadar forest range in the district after two leopards were spotted on Wednesday.

Locals said that several persons of the village had spotted the leopards while they were moving in the forest. Some of them even clicked photographs of the animals on their mobile phones.

“Two years ago a tiger had taken away a baby from its mother’s lap in the area and the incident is still fresh in our minds. After the villagers spotted two leopards most of them are scared to get out of their houses after evening. We demand the forest officials to keep a close watch on the movement of the big cats,” demanded a villager.

Forest officials have intensified patrolling in the area. “We have also advised the villagers to remain alert and not to venture into the jungle,” said a forest official.
