Panel on Odisha Legislative Council to visit Andhra Pradesh, Bihar

Bhubaneswar: The committee, constituted by the Odisha Government to study the formation and functioning of the Legislative Councils in other states, will soon visit Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, a CMO release said on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a proposal in this regard, the release mentioned adding that the visiting committee will submit a detailed report to the State Government.

Earlier, the committee had visited Maharashtra and Karnataka to know the process of formation and functioning of Legislative Councils.

In 2015, the Naveen Government formed a five -member committee headed by Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu. Other members of the committee include Pramila Mallik ,Manohar Randhari, Bhujabal Majhi and Nitesh Gangdev.

Currently, seven states viz. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh have legislative council.
