Panchayat election: 8 platoons police force, 200 home guards and 220 APRs to provide security at 835 booths in Cuttack City

Cuttack: Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh today briefed the City Police team members about their roles and responsibility for the upcoming Panchayat election at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Monday.

While speaking to the reporters, about the action plan of the police, DCP Prateek Singh said that a total of seven Police Stations namely Sadar, Baranga, 42 Mouza, Kandarpur, Choudwar, Jagatpur and Chauliaganj will go to poll in four phases- February 16, 18, 20 and 22.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the Panchayat election which is to be held at 835 polling booths, out of which 30 per cent booths have been categorized as sensitive polling booths.

“Every police station has been divided into small sectors and one Inspector has been given the charge of each sector. There will be two-three patrolling teams who will patrol in the area coming under their jurisdiction,” he said adding that the Sector Officers will ensure that no law and order situation arises. If any untoward incident takes places, the Quick Response Team (QRT) will soon rush to the spot within five minutes and respond to the situation.

“This apart, one each Sticking Force has been stationed at each police station. An ACP has been appointed to monitor the control room round the clock. As many as 8 platoons’ police force, 200 home guards and 220 Auxiliary Police Force (APRs) will be engaged to provide security at each polling booth. Patrolling will be intensified from tomorrow,” the DCP said.
