Paika Rebellion: Naveen demands early release of commemorative postage stamp

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday urged the Union Government for the early release of commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of the bi-centenary celebration of historic Paika Rebellion (Paika Revolt).

In his letter to Union Minister of Communication Manoj Sinha, Patnaik said that Odisha government is celebrating the bi-centenary of Paika Rebellion in a grand manner, befitting its rightful place in the history of India’s freedom struggle.

The Chief Minister reminded Sinha that the Odisha government had given a proposal to the Union Government to release a commemorative postage stamp in the memory of this historic revolt on the occasion of its bi-centenary.

He also said that the proposed stamp design along with write-ups in English and Hindi had already been forwarded to the Chief Post Master General, Odisha Circle, Bhubaneswar vide Culture Department.

The Chief Secretary had also written a letter to the Department of Post, Government of India in this regard.
