Paddy worth Rs 7 lakh gutted in village fire in Boudh

Boudh: In a shocking incident paddy worth lakhs stacked on field were gutted in a massive fire which broke out in Sindurpur village under Kantamal police limits in Boudh district last night.

The incident took place near the crop field of one Manoj Bhoi in the village late in the night and engulfed at least six stacks to reduce those completely into ashes.

Fire brigade officials from Sonepur and Kantamal rushed to the spot and contained the flames later.

Manoj who had cultivated seven acres of paddy this year had kept those on an open field to dry post cutting when the mishap took place.

While the cause of the fire is not known the victim farmer has suspected sabotage behind the mishap.

Meanwhile, residents of Sindurpur village have demanded compensation for the victim farmer as the incident has broken the financial backbone of his family.

Kantamal Police has reached the spot to probe the cause of the fire.
