Subarnapur : Paddy worth lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes after fire broke out at a threshing yard in Sukha village under Dubguripali block in Odisha’s Subarnapur district on Thursday.
The incident took place at the threshing yard of one Manbodh Nayak in the village and engulfed at least two stacks to reduce those completely into ashes.
On being informed, Dubguripali fire brigade officials rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
Sources said, Nayak had cultivated five acres of paddy in this Khariff season and kept the paddy at his threshing yard to thresh when the mishap took place.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the farmer has suspected past enmity behind the mishap.
