Sambalpur: Procurement of paddy for rabi crop season will begin from May 10 in the district. This was decided in the meeting of the District Level Procurement Committee held at the District Collectorate today.
The meeting was also attended by district supply officer, sub-collector, mill owners and farmers. District administration officials said that rabi crop procurement will be done as per the Food and Procurement Policy for Kharif Marketing Season 2018-19 and operational guidelines issued by Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation.
Officials also said that special vigil will be kept to prevent procurement from other districts. The State Government has earlier decided to commence procurement of paddy for rabi crop season from May 1.
The state government has directed 19 districts to carry out rabi crop procurement operations smoothly and ensure that genuine farmers are able to sell their crops on MSP in a hassle-free manner.
