Balangir: The Balangir District administration has decided to open mandis or paddy procurement centres in the district on November 15 to procure paddy for the Kharif marketing season.
Paddy would be procured through 158 paddy procurement centres spread across 14 blocks in the district.
The decision came after a high level meeting, chaired by District Collector Arindam Dakua, held here yesterday.
MLAs Narasingha Mishra, Saroj Meher , Mukesh Mahaling and several farmers leaders and officials were present in the meeting.
“The District administration will take all necessary steps for smooth functioning of these paddy procurement centres ensuring farmers do not face any difficulty,” said an official after the meeting.
