Oxford University lauds Odisha’s Ganjam model of curbing Corona

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has been widely praised by different national and international organisations for its policy of handling Coronavirus pandemic. Recently, the State has garnered another big international appraisal. Oxford University of the United Kingdom has praised the policy of curbing Coronavirus adopted in Ganjam district of the State. The University also mentioned about the policy of Dharavi in Maharashtra.

As per reports, Oxford University said that to stop Corona, one has to learn from Ganjam and Dharavi, know how Corona was imprisoned in these places.

The Research team of Oxford University reportedly found that to prevent corona infection, small areas have to be paid attention which the researchers knew after studying 310 cities. According to the research team, the epidemic can be prevented from spreading if marked infection is stopped in a small pocket.

What happened in Ganjam

The first case was found on May 2 in Ganjam district of Odisha. In August, the rate of getting the patient reached 59%, after which measures were taken, now 98% of the 20430 patients have been fully vaccinated, only 188 patients are left.

The State Government empowered the sarpanches to work on prevention of corona. Covid Management Committees were formed in each village. The committee members visited door to door screening six times.
