Koraput: Odisha police has seized a huge cache of ganja from Kanchana Chhak in Lamptaput of Koraput district this morning and arrested two persons in this connection. The two arrested persons have been identified as Yogendra Tiwari (60) and Shivshankar Chowdhry (50) of Bihar.
Acting on a tip-off, the Machkund police intercepted a coconut laden truck, bearing registration number UP 53 CT 5545. During the search, they seized 7 quintal 40 grams of contraband from the vehicle and arrested two persons.
The truck was transporting the contraband which was en-route to Bihar from Sagara, Lamtaput, said Nandapur SDPO Sanjay Mahapatra.
The cops also seized one mobile phone, some documents and cash from their possession. The cost of the seized ganja is estimated to be Rs 70 lakhs.
Machkund police has registered a case in this connection and further investigations underway.
