Over 25 lakh children (15-18 year-old) to receive covid vaccine in Odisha: Bijay Panigrahi

Bhubaneswar: Over 25 lakh children in Odisha are to receive the vaccine for Covid-19, informed Health &Family Welfare Director Dr. Bijay Panigrahi on Monday.

The registration is to begin for 25.53 lakh children in the 15-18 year age group. Besides, over seven lakh frontline workers and 52.37 lakh in 60+ age group with co-morbidities are to be administered precaution dose, said Panigrahi.

The 15-18 year age group willing to take Covid-19 vaccine have to register, informed Panigrahi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on December 25 announced that from 3rd January 2022, Monday, vaccination will start for the children in the age group of 15-18 years.

He had also announced precaution dose for healthcare and frontline workers from 10th January 2022, Monday.

If required vaccine will be made available at schools and colleges. Since teachers will be present at the schools and colleges, if necessary the parents of the students will have to come along with them, said Panigrahi.

Till now vaccination is underway at 2600 stations. Around 8 mobile teams have been deployed in each block of Odisha. 29 lakh beneficiaries in the state have not taken the first dose and 30 lakh are yet to take the second dose of the covid-vaccine, informed Bijay Panigrahi.
