Koraput: Odisha police seized more than two quintals of ganja from Sagar Chhak near Lamtaput in Koraput district and arrested four smugglers in this connection. The arrested smugglers have been identified to belong from Madhya Pradesh, informed Nandapur Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sanjay Mohapatra.
Based on a reliable information, Machkund police intercepted two vehicles bearing registration number MP 04C CJ 2594 and MP 04 KG 2814 from Sagar Chhak seized over two quintals of ganja from the spot.
The cops arrested four inter state smugglers from the spot. Seven mobile phones and Rs 4,130 cash have also been seized from their possession. The worth of the seized ganja have been estimated to be more than Rs 22 lakhs,
The cops have initiated a further probe into the matter.
Earlier on September 22, three smugglers were arrested from Malkangiri and seized 2,256 kgs ganja worth Rs 2.25 crore. The ganja was concealed under the coal being transported with the help of a truck
