Over 2 cr people in Odisha receive 2nd dose of Covid vaccine

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has crossed the two-crore milestone in terms of the total number of second dose COVID-19 vaccines that have been administered. As many as 2,00,34,508 people have received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the State, according to the data Health and Family Welfare.

Similarly, a total of 2,89,96,944 first-dose Covid vaccines have been given to the people in Odisha.

Reportedly, as many as 4,90,31,452 doses have been administered in the state. However, about 60 lakh people in the state are yet to take the first and second dose of the Covid vaccine.

Meanwhile, 100% of health workers have received their first dose of the Covid vaccine, while 92 percent have received the second dose.

On the other hand, for people above the 45-age category, 92 percent took the first dose and 89 percent took the second dose. Whereas, 4,23,575 pregnant women have been vaccinated.

It is to be noted that, the Centre on Monday issued guidelines for the vaccination of youngsters of 15-18 years and precaution dose for healthcare and frontline workers along with 60 plus population with comorbidity.

The union health ministry has said that only Covaxin would be available for the children. “Covid-19 vaccination of children in the age-group of 15-18 years to be started from January 3, 2022. For such beneficiaries, the vaccination option would be ‘Covaxin’ only”, said the guidelines.
