Balasore: Tightening the noose around the necks of bootleggers, police seized a van carrying over Rs 1000 litre country liquour last night from Bahanaga block of Balasore district.
The raid was conducted by a four-member team of Gopalpur Police which was on night patrolling duty and spotted the suspicously moving pickup van (Registration Number-OR 01 V 0435).
The police team led by IIC Bansidhar Pradhan intercepted the van and carried out a search within it. During the search a number of sacks carrying liquor pouches were found and seized.
However, at least two bootleggers who were boarding the van managed to escape from the spot during the raid.
Police have lodged a case in connection with the incident and started investigation.
