OUAT Entrance Exam 2019: Fake examinee racket busted in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A fake examinee was arrested from an exam center here while writing common entrance examination 2019 for admission to the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar on Sunday. His allies were also arrested in this connection.

The fake examinee has been identified as Adarsh Chaudhary, a resident of Naulgarh in Rajasthan’s Sikhar district. He was hired to appear the exam at Saraswati Sisu Vidyamandir, located at Dharamvihar in the city, impersonating as the original candidate Yudhistir Mallick bearing Roll No. 690038.

However, the invigilator caught Adarsh while checking the admit card and photo identity at the exam centre.

On being informed, Khandagiri Police reached the exam center and detained the accused.

During the course of investigation, it was found that one Yudhistir Mallick of Puri district applied the OUAT common entrance test exam 2019. He had sought help from Ranjit Kumar Beura, an NMIT staff, to clear the exam.

Ranjit hatched the plan with Amit Kumar Singh, another NMIT staff.  Later, they connived with Amiya Bhusan of Bihar and decided to hire Chaudhary to write the exam impersonating as Mallick (original candidate) for which it was agreed to take five lakh of cash and to be distributed among them.

All the accused persons including Adarsh, Amit , Amiya and Ranjit were arrested yesterday and forwarded to the judicial court today.

A case has been registered at Khandgiri Police station under sections 419/420/120 B IPC/ Sec 9 of Odisha conduct of examination Act in this connection and further investigation is under progress, police said.
