OSRTC employees go on three-day strike from today

Bhubaneswar: Government bus service in the state was badly hit following a three-day strike by Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) which was launched today to press government to fulfill a four-point-charter of demand including regularisation of contractual employees.

At least 600 buses run in the state by OSRTC stayed off the roads due to the strike giving commuters a tough time starting from the morning today. In the districts like Koraput and Malkangiri where a large section of commuters depend of the government-run buses remained stranded at various bus stands due to stoppage of the OSRTC bus plying.

In the Millenium City Cuttack also, passengers were left in a chaotic situation as around 60 buses operating from Badambadi Bus Stand remained off road.

Agitating employees of OSRTC held series of demonstrations under the aegis of All Orissa State Road Transport Staff Association (AOSRTSA) at all major bus stands in the state including Badambadi, Berhampur, and Jeypore.

The other demands of the body includes, equal pay for equal work for all the employees as per the Supreme Court directive, implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, and unlawful crackdown on agitating employees.
