Bhubaneswar: A sepoy of Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) was on Saturday arrested here for allegedly raping and duping a married woman.
The accused has been identified as Raja Kishore Bhoi. He was posted at 3rd battalion, OSAP, Koraput.
Police sources said, Bhoi forcefully established a physical relationship with the woman about two years ago. He repeatedly raped her since then and forced her to leave her husband and one and a half year child to marry him.
He was earlier arrested for allegedly molesting the complainant in public at Saheed Nagar in the city.
Following the incident, the woman was also deserted by her husband.
However, the sepoy later ditched the woman and married someone else that left her in despair.
On December 12, 2019, the woman lodged an FIR against Bhoi at Nayapalli police station.
Bhoi was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman and booked under Sections 450, 376 and 505 of IPC, police said adding that he will be forwarded to the court later in the day.
