Cuttack: The Orissa High Court is slated to hear a plea seeking reduction of fees of shook students today. The all Odisha parents association has filed a plea urging the court to direct the concerned school authorities to reduce the fees of students in the wake of COVID 19 outbreak.

The court, earlier on September 1, had directed both the parties to resolve the issue by mutual understanding.

A special meeting of several representatives of the Education Department of the State government, School authorities, Teachers association and parents association was held following the court’s order.

The meeting was successful and Odisha chief secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy had requested the school authorities to reduce certain percentage of the school fees to which the latter agreed.

However, the official of the Odisha government could not submit the report at the court on September 14 as he was infected with Coronavirus due to which the court had asked the concerned official to summit the report latest by September 22.

The court will hear the matter today and is expected to clearly say which all fees and how much percentage should be reduced by the schools.
