Orissa High Court quashes petition seeking permission to sell crackers during upcoming Diwali

Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Monday quashed the petition seeking permission to sale and burst green crackers during upcoming Diwali. The petition had been filed by the All Odisha Fire Works Dealers’ Association.

As per reports, the All Odisha Fire Workers Association had filed petition seeking permission to allow sale/ bursting of crackers during the upcoming Diwali.

As per reports, High Court rejected the petition as the said Association is not a registered organisation. However, fresh petition can be filed in this regard.

It is to be noted that Odisha government has banned sale and bursting of crackers in the State during Diwali. A set of guidelines have been issued on September 30 in this regard. The petition had been filed challenging this ban by the State government.
