Orissa HC Bar Association on cease work to protest CBI entry into sitting judge’s house

Orissa HC Bar Association launches cease work agitation against CBI probeCuttack: Protesting the entry of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) personnel into the house of a sitting judge at Cantonment Road area of the city, the Orissa High Court Bar Association on Wednesday afternoon launched a cease work agitation till Thursday afternoon.

Terming the CBI raid as a deplorable act, the irate lawyers demanded a judicial probe into the CBI raid at the official residence of the sitting judge on Tuesday night.

The High Court Bar Association convened an urgent meeting of its executive body at 1.15 PM and decided to resort to a cease work protest till Thursday 1.15 PM. They also apprised Chief Justice Vineet Saran about the matter.

According to reports, the CBI sleuths entered the premises of the sitting judge by mistake while raiding the house of a retired High Court judge. However, they left the campus immediately after realising the mistake.

Odisha DGP R.P Sharma and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Y.B Khurania entered the premises of the High Court amid such a tense scenario. Though uncertain about the reason behind their visit, sources claimed that they had come to meet the Chief Justice.
