Orissa HC Asks Transport Dept To Identify Agents Working In RTOs
Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today directed the Transport Secretary to identify and compile a list of agents working at all RTO offices and rehabilitate the agents/brokers evicted from the RTOs.
Hearing a petition filed by the Odisha Motor Vehicle Field Workers’ Association to allow the agents/brokers to function from the RTO premises, the court today directed the Transport Secretary to rehabilitate them in the proposed e-Kiosks. The Court has also directed to complete the process within two months.
Earlier the Odisha Government has banned the entry of middlemen/agents to the RTOs. Besides the government has also proposed to set up e-Kiosks to make the paperwork as hassle-free as possible.
Following the direction, police has arrested several middlemen and concerned district administration have also evicted the shanties in and around the RTOs.
