Only 6 Covid positive cases reported in Odisha, 1 person succumbs

Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Tuesday reported only six new Covid cases including two in the 0-18 years, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department. The positive tally stands at 12,87,860.

Reportedly, among the six positives, four patients are in quarantine, and two are local contacts. The active cases in Odisha currently stand at 137.

Sambalpur recorded three positives following which Khordha recorded two positives. Kandrapara recorded only one Covid positive case.

On the other hand, a 56 years old Female of Bhubaneswar succumbed to Covid. She was also suffering from Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of Breast (right) with Brain Metastasis grade-III, informed Health & Family Welfare Department.

Notably, the Covid booster dose has been made available for all adults above the age of 18 at private vaccination centres from April 10.

All those who are more than 18 years of age and have completed 9 months after the administration of the second dose, are eligible for the booster dose.

Both the major manufacturers of Covid vaccines announced large cuts in the price a day before the booster dose is rolled out. Serum Institute of India’s (SII) Covishield, and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin will be available for Rs 225 per dose, down from Rs 600 and Rs 1,200 respectively. The private vaccination centres can charge up to Rs 150 per dose as a service charge over and above the cost of the vaccine.
