Onion bags slip from truck, bring cheers to passers-by in Odisha

Sambalpur:  Amid skyrocketing onion prices that made customers cry across the nation, it was pure bliss for some passers-by in Belpahar of Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Thursday afternoon.

According to reports, few bags of onion fell from a moving truck on NH-53 near a petrol filling station in Belpahar. It reportedly occurred due to large size of speed humps on the NH.

The onion-laden truck, which came from Nashik, was heading to Sambalpur.

The incident caught the attention of people on bikes, some of whom started picking out onions, lying on the roads. Some people in cars also stopped to take away the free onions.

Vehicular movement was affected on the route for a while due to the road jam following the incident.
