One Killed, 13 Injured In Two Separate Road Mishaps In Odisha

Rayagada/Balangir: At least one person was killed and 13 persons sustained critical injuries in two separate road accidents in Odisha today.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Jena, a resident of Nayagarh district.

Sources said, a private bus named “Raghunath” was carrying 50 passengers and was  enroute to Nayagarh from Jeypore when the ill-fated bus hit a culvert and overturned near Sirikona Chhaka under Bissam Cuttack in Rayagada district killing one person on the spot .While eight persons sustained critical injuries.

The injured have been rescued and immediately rushed to District head-quarters hospital (DHH) in Rayagada. The driver of the bus has been absconding.

Later, the Bissam Cuttack police reached the spot and started a probe into the matter.

In another separate accident, at least five persons were injured as the bus they were travelling in turns turtle near a Dhaba in Titlagarh area of Balangir district.

Sources said, the driver of the bus lost control over its wheels and overturned injuring five persons. The private bus carrying 35 passengers was enroute to Bhubaneswar from Sunabeda.

All the injured have been admitted to Santha Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in the district.
