Rourkela: A contractual worker was killed and another sustained critical injuries after a iron plate fell on him at Rourkela Steel plant on Sunday morning.
The mishap took place in Captive Power Plant – I on premises of RSP plant.
The deceased worker has been identified as Amar Kumar Panda (41).
According to sources, Amar along with other colleagues were involvement in cleaning of gas pipeline when an iron plate fell on him, injuring two colleagues.
The injured were immediately rushed to Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela for medical treatment. During the treatment Amar died.
Local people and contractual workers association have demanded appropriate compensation for the family of the deceased worker.
We will probe into the incident that took place in the plant, informed Rourkela steel plant in-charge Amarendu Prakash.
