One Accused In Jharsuguda Bank Dacoity Case Arrested From Bihar

Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda police on Saturday arrested one person in connection with the loot of cash from Axis Bank’s Gumadera branch in the district on September 4.

As many as six miscreants had looted cash worth Rs 14 lakh from the bank on gunpoint.

The accused has been identified as Niraj Thakur. Police said that Thakur has been arrested from Bihar by a special team which is also trying to nab the other five accused involved in the incident.

“Thakur was being brought under transit remand. We have also seized a pistol from his possession. The gang was also involved in loot of Rs 25 lakh from a courier company in Muzaffarpur,” said a police official.

Police said that the gang planned the crime four months ago. “One of the relatives of the prime accused is a resident of Gumadera. The gang conducted a recce two days before the crime. All the accused stayed in a hotel in Sundargarh,” added the police official.
