Puri: Tension ran high at Masanichandi Chhak under Baseli Sahi police limits in religious town Puri today after an on-duty Home Guard sustained grievous injury after being hacked by miscreants over unknown reason.
The victim has been identified as Gunamani Rout.
As per the victim, at least two bike-borne miscreants reached Masanichandi Chhak this morning while he had been deployed on duty and attacked him with sharp weapons. Later they fled from the spot.
Rout who sustained grievous injury on his head, back and hand was rushed to Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) by some locals immediately after the incident.
While, the cause behind the attack is yet to be ascertained police suspects its link to the bomb hurling incident which took place at the same spot two days ago. Police are still empty handed in the case.
An investigation is underway in today’s incident.
