Oil Price Hike: BJD begins 3-day state-wide protest

Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday started its three-day state-wide protest against fuel price hike.

Holding banners and placards, BJD leaders and activists staged demonstration near Raj Bhawan here to highlight the anti-people policies of the Central Government. Later, a delegation of the party submitted a memorandum to the Governor addressed to the President of India Ram Nath Kovind.

Some members of the conch party also staged peaceful protest in front of all the petrol pumps to make the people aware about the fuel prices hike.

The BJD will stage protest across the state till May 30.

In Bhubaneswar, petrol is being sold at Rs 77.07 per litre while consumers have to pay Rs 74.15 for the same quantity of diesel.
