OHRC seeks report on Koraput school girl gang rape case Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on Wednesday sought a report from the Home Secretary and ADG, Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) over the Koraput school girl gang rape case.

The OHRC issued the directive following separate petitions over the incident filed by five human rights activists and asked them to submit the report within a week.

The rights body has also directed the state government to shift the victim, if necessary, to any hospital outside the state for better treatment.

Condemning the incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had yesterday announced free treatment of the victim.

Taking serious note of the public outrage over the incident, Odisha police on Wednesday marked the heinous crime as a ‘Red Flag Case’ (a sensational case of crime against women which is dealt with top priority).

A ninth class student of Sorisapadar village under Potangi police limits in Koraput district was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel while returning from the Kunduli Haat (market) yesterday.
