Odisha’s Sonepur hottest in India as it records 44.2 degree Celsius temperature

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reels under intense heat wave conditions as Sonepur was the hottest place in India while the mercury soared to and above 40 degree Celsius in 15 other locations of the State.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Sonepur recorded 44.2 degree Celsius, the highest maximum day temperature today.

Apart from Sonepur, the 15 places of the State witnessed temperatures above 40 degree Celsius mark today. They are Sonepur (44.2), Balangir (42.8), Baripada (42.5), Jharsuguda (42.2), Talcher (41.8), Angul (41.7), Sundergarh (41.5), Sambalpur (40.8), Bhawanipatna (40.5), Nayagarh (40.5), Balasore (40), Chatrapur (40), Titilagarh (41.5) and Malkangiri (40).

Likewise, the Twin Cities of Odisha, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded the maximum temperature of 37.7 and 38.4 degree Celsius, respectively.
