Shreya Lenka of Rourkela, Odisha, is one step away from becoming India’s first K-pop artiste.

Back in May 2021, K-pop girl group Black Swan’s label DR Music announced that they were holding a global auditions to fill a spot left open after Hyemi’s exit from the group. However, the label recently revealed that two people are now competing each other for the coveted spot.

Shreya is one of the two finalists selected from the global auditions to fill the open spot in the K-pop group Blackswan. The 18-year-old is competing against Gabriela Dalcin of Brazil.

According to an entertainment website, Meaww, Gabriela is part of the dance cover girl group Queens of Revolution. On the contrary, Shreya is trained in Hindustani classical as well as Odissi and other forms of contemporary dance. Apart from that she is also a yoga practitioner. Like Gabriela, she also performs K-pop dance covers.

Reportedly, the two are now moving to South Korea for a month-long training period. At the end of this period, one of the two will be selected to become a member of Blackswan.

Blackswan is a South Korean girl group formed by DR Music, that debuted on October 16, 2020. The group consists of Youngheun, Fatou, Judy, and Leia. A fifth member, Hyeme, left the group on November 10, 2020.
