Odisha’s Omicron tally rises to 61 with 24 new cases

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has reported 24 more Omicron cases, informed Ajay Parida, Director of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), taking the tally to 61.

Of the new Omicron cases, 5 positives have been linked to foreign travel history while 19 others are local contacts.

The detection of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has been reported to the State Health Department by the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) in Bhubaneswar which is conducting the genome sequencing of the positive cases of coronavirus infection.

On January 2, Odisha reported 23 Omicron cases. Of which 11 of them are returnees from Finland, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Syria, 10 are local cases, and the remaining two are contacts of Finland returnees.
