Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoological Park Celebrates 62nd Foundation Day

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s famous Nandankanan Zoological Park celebrated its 62nd Foundation Day in Bhubaneswar today amid Covid restrictions due to rising cases in the State including Omicron cases.

Reportedly on this occasion, three cubs of tigress Megha while three cubs of Bijaya were also be named after the names suggested by tourists.

In addition, a satellite transmitter will be fitted to the bodies of Pangolins and they will be released into the jungle.

Nandankanan Zoological Park is set to become a world-class zoo by 2022 to attract tourists, added reports. The zoo was established on December 29, 1960.

A Souvenir and the annual report of Nandankanan Zoo have also been released on the occasion of 62nd Foundation Day.

Earlier on December 28, welcomed a new member after the female chimpanzee Rakhi was blessed with a baby for the first time.

It is to be noted that the Botanical Garden of Nandankanan Zoological Park reopened for visitors from December 1. The people who wish to have a feast can visit Nandankanan’s official website to book the spot and cottage for a picnic in the botanical garden. The entry ticket for all above 12-years-old will be Rs 20.
