Khurda: Sura Baba has gotten himself embroiled in yet another controversy. A case of sexual harassment has been filed at Balipatna Police Station against Sura Baba aka Surendra Nath Nayak. It is important to note here that Nayak had been out on bail for a money laundering case after staying for more than two years in jail.
As per the reports, the complainant belongs to Belaghuntha area of Ganjam district. She was about to get married to Deep Sundar Swain of Trahiachyut Nagar under Balipatna Police Station. They had gotten engaged too. Since the victim’s father was no more, Swain and his mother urged the victim to come to Trahiachyut Nagar. They even rented a house for her to stay.
On January 14 at 3 am Swain’s mother convinced the victim to go to Trahiachyut Ashram for some special pujas. The victim, upon reaching at Ashram, found Sura Baba sitting in a dark room. She was pushed into the room and doors were locked. The victim, as per her complaint, was groped and sexually assaulted.
The victim somehow was able to contact her relative Narayan Gouda. Narayan then rescued his sister from the Ashram but both of them were given life threats and asked to not approach the Police. They finally gathered the courage to file a police complaint on February 1.
The Balipatna Police have begun a detailed investigation and more details will follow.
