Cuttack: Rajya Sabha MP and BJD candidate from Kendrapara Parliamentary Constituency in Odisha, Anubhab Mohanty received a death threat and an extortion demand of Rs 10 lakh from an unidentified person through WhatsApp message on Tuesday.
The actor-turned-politician lodged a complaint at Purighat Police Station in the city in this connection.
The Purighat Police has launched an investigation to probe the matter, sources said.
Yesterday, the fate of Mohanty and his opponents from BJP and Congress was sealed in EVMs. Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituency recorded 65 per cent voter turnout in the fourth and final phase of elections in the state.
