Bhawanipatna: In a shocking incident a youth was allegedly trying to sacrifice his own biological father Baladev Bhoi in Kalahandi district of Odisha recently. However, this attempt was foiled as the locals intervened in the matter and rescued the man. The incident took place in Kalampur Belpada area under Jaypatna Police limits in the district.
The accused has been identified as Lingaraj Bhoi. the sorcerer has been identified as Chitrasen Rana of Rajpur village.
As per reports, Lingaraj had attempted to sacrifice his own father for sorcery after being tipped by a sorcerer. His father had been asked to wear new dresses. After knowing about this the locals informed Police.
The reason behind the sacrifice attempt is said to be for the greed of getting hidden treasure.
Accordingly, Police reached the spot. However, it took the Police men some time to overpower the culprits. Even, the Village Guard (Grama Rakshi) got hurt as Lingaraj attacked him with an axe.
Jaypatna Police have arrested Lingaraj as well as the sorcerer. However, it has been ascertained that the accused Lingaraj is reportedly mentally ill.
