Odisha youth rescued from crocodile-infested water in Bhadrak

Chandbali: A youth was rescued from the crocodile-infested Baitarani river in Chandbali on Saturday night by the fire personnel.

The youth has been identified as a native of Nuagaon village in Bhadrak district.

Report says, a youth who was mentally stable jumped into the Baitarani river near Aranya Niwas in the town at around 12 pm in the midnight.

The youth swam and reached the river-bed near Badabazar and then he got hold of a bamboo pole put in the river to tie fishing boats which was 70 ft far from the banks of the river. He sat there for around 1 hour. There was fear of crocodiles and also deep water.

The locals informed the police and fire personnel. Later, a six-member fire personnel team from Chandbali reached and then with the help of a local fisherman’s boat rescued him.”
