Odisha: Worship going on amid covid restrictions in shrines on first Monday of Kartika today

Puri: Today is the first Monday in the month of the holy Kartika month. Regarded as a pious day, worship is being done in different shrines across the State while devotees paying visit to the temples amid covid restrictions.

The rituals of Lord Jagannath in Puri of Odisha started early in the morning today. After opening of the Singhadwara, the temple gate, Mangala alati was done. In the wake of Covid pandemic devotees as well as habishyalis are paying their obeisance to the God from the Singhadwara only as visit inside the temple has been restricted. They are seen lighting lamps in front of Singhadwara. Lord Jagannath and siblings have been attired with the Radha Damodara besha today.

On the other hand, devotees are flocking to Lord Shiva temples across the State to offer worship to the Lord as today is first Monday in the holy month of Kartika. In the famous Dhabaleswara temple in Cuttack district only the rituals are being done. Section 144 has been clamped here to avoid crowding of devotees which will be in force from 4am to 10 pm.

Despite Covid restrictions some devotees are seen crowding in front of the temples today.
