Keonjhar: A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband over some petty issue in Keonjhar district of Odisha on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Bija Majhi , wife of Maheswar Majhi, of Bhagamunda under Harichandanpur police limits in the district.
According to reports, Bija and Maheswar engaged in a heated argument, when both were working in their paddy field this morning. She was thrashed by her husband in the field. Soon after the incident, she left the field and went to a relative’s house in the village.
However, Maheswar followed his wife and attacked her with an axe at their relative’s house, causing critical head injuries to her. Bija reportedly died on the spot, locals said.
Meanwhile, Police detained Maheswar and began investigation into the matter.
