Bhadrak: A 26-year-old woman made an attempt to kill her child and herself by slitting throat respectively with a blade in Chandia village under Banta police limits in the district on Thursday night.
However, both were rescued by the family members and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital immediately.
Though their condition were reportedly stable after the treatment, the DHH doctors referred the three-month- child to admit in Cuttack based Sishu Bhawan, a premier government run children hospital in the state, for further treatment.
The woman has been identified as Subhadra, wife of Sushanta Jena of the village.
Sushanta, a daily wage labourer, said that her wife has been suffering from mentally illness for long period of time, for which she might have taken such drastic attempt.
