Odisha villagers use cow dung paste to cure lightning victims

Bhanjanagar: In the age of advanced medical science, superstition still reigns supreme in several parts of Odisha. A shocking story of superstition taking over the medical science has come to the light from Ganjam district where villagers applied cow dung paste to cure a lightning victim.

One Laxman Behera of Taladi village under Tarasingi police limits of the district reportedly collapsed on the spot after lightning struck him while he was standing under a tree yesterday evening. Two cows also reportedly died after being struck by the lightning.

Some locals rescued Behera and pasted cow dung throughout his body in their bid to cure him. However, Behera did not gain his senses even after a long time.

On being informed by some people, local police rushed to the village and rescued Behera and admitted him at Bhanjanagar hospital. Unfortunately, doctor who attended Behera declared him brought death.

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation after registering a case of an unnatural death.
