Odisha Vigilance registers 31 cases in last 45 days: 23 arrested, Crores unearthed

Bhubaneswar: Intensifying the action against corrupt government officials, Odisha has registered as many as 31 cases in the last 45 days.

The Vigilance sleuths have unearthed cash and property disproportionate to the income of the accused persons in crores while 23 arrests have been made including four Class 1 officers.

Reportedly with the help of the state government’s Mo Sarkar campaign, the Odisha anti-corruption team has successfully achieved this, informed Vigilance Directorate Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa.

It is to be noted that the vigilance department had achieved great success on Wednesday. Crorepati Additional Superintendent of Police (SP), Communication, Trinath Mishra was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Cuttack on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income.

Mishra was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.9 Crores (approx), which constituted 489% of his known sources of income.

Similarly, another crorepati Gynaecologist of Puri Charichak Medical Community Health Centre (CHC), Sukant Kumar Jena, has been arrested and forwarded to the Court today.

he was apprehended by the vigilance sleuths while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3000/- after an operation and Rs 5000/- pre-operation from a Complainant for conducting the cesarean operation of his cousin. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from him.

A huge amount of Rs. 1 crore and 12 lakh cash was recovered during the house search. It is being said that this is the biggest cash recovery in the State during a Vigilance raid.
